Beartooth Drive
We had a great time on what will have to be our First Annual NPVFCC Beartooth Highway Drive. The weather looked threatening to the west but we proceeded undaunted.
We gathered up participants at stops in Billings and Laurel and drove to Rockvale for an excellent breakfast. We then continued on to Red Lodge and found our way to Mark's cabin. Mark took us on a walking tour of the area and we enjoyed the wonderful smells of the forest and the great view over Rock Creek.
But then it was time to drive and up the Beartooth Highway we went. The weather broke from cloudy to full sun as we made our way to the lookout point with all vehicles still in the procession and no one leaking fluids. We enjoyed the view and chatting with the many Harley riders who were doing the drive as part of their Sturgis adventure.
It was decided that we needed to get up higher for a better view so we continued on up to the top, just past the ski lift. We did find the wind once we passed the treeline but it was not unbearably cold. We took some pictures, enjoyed the spectacular views and headed back down the hill.
We met up at Red Lodge Ales for food, refershments, and comraderie. The drive back to Billings got us back into town about 6pm.
